A massage for the whole of you
Perhaps you have been on your feet all week. Perhaps it was the drive: Dubai to Fujairah and back again, hands on the wheel, shoulders slowly rising toward your ears. Or maybe nothing dramatic happened at all, and you simply feel full — of meetings, messages, noise and small responsibilities that never quite finish.
A full body massage is the treatment for those days. It does not ask you to choose a problem area or decide how hard the pressure should be before you have even lain down. It just takes you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet, slowly, with warm oil and steady hands, until the list in your head grows quieter.
At Olive Spa, inside V Hotel Fujairah, it is the treatment our guests book most often, and the one we recommend when someone tells us, “I don’t really know what I need. I just need a break.”
What is a full body massage?
A full body massage is a single session that works through every major area of the body in a set, unhurried sequence. Instead of focusing deeply on one knot, the therapist uses long gliding strokes, gentle kneading and rhythmic pressure to cover the whole body evenly.
In the spa world you will see it described in different ways: relaxing massage, oil massage, Swedish massage or simply body massage. The names overlap. What matters is the experience, and at Olive Spa that means:
- Warm oil, chosen with you before the session begins
- Light to medium pressure, adjusted at any time
- Head-to-toe coverage, with nothing rushed
- A private room, soft lighting and quiet music
- A therapist who checks in, without making you talk if you would rather not
It is not a medical treatment, and we never present it as one. It is a period of time set aside for your body to be looked after, and for your mind to have nothing to do.

Which areas are covered?
A typical 60-minute full body massage moves through the body in this order. Your therapist may adapt it to your preferences.
| Area | What usually happens | Approximate time (60 min) |
|---|---|---|
| Back and shoulders | Long strokes along the spine, kneading across the shoulders and shoulder blades | 18–20 minutes |
| Neck and scalp | Gentle work at the base of the skull, slow circles through the scalp | 6–8 minutes |
| Arms and hands | Strokes from shoulder to fingertips, gentle pressure through the palms | 8–10 minutes |
| Legs | Back of the legs first, then the front, with attention to calves and thighs | 14–16 minutes |
| Feet | Soles, arches and toes, with slower pressure | 5–6 minutes |
In a 90-minute session the sequence is the same, with extra time on the back, shoulders and legs, which is where most people carry tension after desk work, driving or long flights.
You are always in control of the map. If you would rather your feet, scalp, face or stomach were left out, simply say so. Nobody will ask why.
How firm is the pressure?
Pressure is the question we hear most from first-time guests, so let’s be clear about it.
A full body massage at Olive Spa sits in the light to medium range. Think of it as firm enough to feel the muscles soften, gentle enough that you never need to brace. If you think of pressure on a scale from 1 (barely there) to 10 (very firm), most full body massages sit around 4 to 6.
Before you begin, your therapist will ask how you like it. During the session they will check once or twice, especially on the back and legs. If anything feels too strong, too light or simply not right, say “lighter” or “firmer” and it changes immediately.
If you already know you want firm, focused pressure on stubborn tightness, a deep tissue massage will suit you better. If you are unsure, start here. You can always go deeper next time.
Choosing your oil
The oil matters more than people expect. It affects how smoothly the strokes glide, how your skin feels afterwards and the scent that stays with you on the drive home.
Before your session your therapist will offer a choice of oils. If you have sensitive skin, nut allergies or a dislike of strong scents, please tell us when you book so we can prepare an unscented or suitable alternative.
Most of the oil absorbs during the massage. Your therapist will remove any excess with a warm towel at the end, and you are welcome to shower before you dress.
Oils we use for full body massage
- Olive oil for a smooth glide on the skin
- Argan oil for a light, silky finish
- Sweet almond oil for long, flowing strokes
- Coconut oil for dry skin
- Lavender oil for a soft, calm scent
- Eucalyptus oil for a fresh scent in the steam room
- Jojoba oil for sensitive skin
What a full body massage feels like, minute by minute
If you have never had a massage before, it can help to know exactly what happens. Here is a typical 60-minute session.
The first few minutes. You lie face down, covered by a sheet, with your face resting in a padded cradle. The room is warm and dim. Your therapist places their hands lightly on your back for a moment before beginning, so the first touch is never a surprise.
Minutes 5 to 25. The back and shoulders. Long strokes from the lower back up to the shoulders, then broader kneading across the shoulder blades. This is often where guests feel themselves sink into the table.
Minutes 25 to 40. The backs of the legs and the feet. You may notice your breathing slow down without trying.
Minutes 40 to 55. You turn over, guided and covered the whole time. Arms, hands, the fronts of the legs, then the neck and scalp.
The final minutes. A slower finish, then a warm towel. Your therapist leaves the room so you can rest for a moment and get up in your own time.
Many guests tell us the strangest part is how quickly the hour passes.
Full body, Swedish or deep tissue: which is right for you?
Wondering which massage is right for you? This table compares the three styles people most often confuse.
| Compared on | Full body massage | Swedish-style massage | Deep tissue massage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure | Light to medium | Light to medium | Firm, slow, focused |
| Main goal | Relaxation across the whole body | Relaxation, flowing rhythm | Work on specific tight areas |
| Coverage | Head to toe | Head to toe | Often concentrates on back, neck, shoulders, legs |
| Oil | Yes | Yes | Yes, usually less |
| Good first massage? | Yes | Yes | Better once you know what you like |

At Olive Spa, our full body massage draws on the Swedish style: long gliding strokes, kneading and gentle rhythm. If you searched for a Swedish massage in Fujairah, this is the treatment to book.
Would you prefer a different kind of ritual altogether? A Kerala Ayurvedic massage uses far more warm herbal oil and a slower, more traditional rhythm, while a Thai massage is done in loose clothing with stretching instead of oil.
Who usually chooses a full body massage?
There is no single type of person who books this treatment, but we see some patterns.
- First-time guests who want something gentle, predictable and easy to adjust.
- Hotel guests at V Hotel Fujairah unwinding after a flight, a long drive or a day at the beach.
- Professionals in Fujairah who spend the week at a desk or behind the wheel and want an hour where nobody needs anything from them.
- Couples and friends booking side by side. See our couples massage.
- Regular guests who alternate between this and deeper work, depending on the week.
If you are pregnant, recovering from an injury or surgery, or managing a medical condition, please tell us when you book. We may suggest checking with your doctor first, and we will adapt or recommend a different treatment where needed.
Not sure if full body is the right choice? Tell us how you feel and we will suggest the right massage.
Your visit, step by step
- Book your time. Choose 60 or 90 minutes online, by phone or on WhatsApp. Tell us any preferences: therapist, pressure, oil, areas to avoid.
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. Find us on the 1st Floor of V Hotel Fujairah, Al Fassel Rd. We will offer you water or herbal tea and a short consultation form.
- A quick conversation. Your therapist asks about pressure, any areas to focus on or avoid, and anything we should know about your health.
- Change in private. You are shown to your room and left alone to undress to your comfort level and lie under the sheet.
- Your massage. 60 or 90 minutes, head to toe. Speak up at any time.
- Rest and recover. Take a moment, shower if you like, then enjoy something warm to drink before you head back out.
Before and after: small things that help
Before your massage
- Eat lightly. A heavy meal right before lying face down is rarely comfortable.
- Arrive with a little time to spare. Rushing in from the car park keeps your shoulders up.
- Remove jewellery, or leave it in the locker provided.
- Let us know about allergies, sensitive skin, pregnancy or recent injuries.
After your massage
- Drink a glass of water and give yourself a few quiet minutes before driving.
- If you can, plan an easy evening. Many guests sleep well afterwards.
- Avoid a hot sauna or intense workout straight after, so the relaxed feeling lasts.
